Biography
Michael "Mick" Hanly, born on July 3, 1949, in Limerick, Ireland, is a singer and composer. He taught himself guitar and began performing locally. In the early 1970s, Hanly formed folk music duos with MÃcheál à Domhnaill and Andy Irvine. With à Domhnaill, he recorded "The Hills of Greenmore" in 1974 and released Celtic Folkweave under Polydor Records. After Monroe disbanded in 1975, Hanly returned to Ireland and released his debut solo albums A Kiss in the Morning Early (1976) and As I Went Over Blackwater (1980). He joined Moving Hearts from 1982 until 1985. Hanly is known for composing "Past the Point of Rescue", first recorded by Mary Black in 1988. Throughout his career, he released notable albums including All I Remember (1989), Warts & All (1991), Wish Me Well (2004), and Homeland (2016).
