Biography

Michelle Gurevich, born in 1980 in Toronto, Ontario, is a Canadian singer-songwriter. Initially working as a film cutter, she began producing music in 2005 and released her debut album Party Girl under the name Chinawoman in 2007. The title track "Party Girl" became one of her biggest hits, leading to successful tours in Russia and Eastern Europe. Her subsequent albums include Show Me the Face (2010) and Let’s Part in Style (2014). In 2016, following controversy over cultural appropriation, Michelle Gurevich adopted her real name for future releases, including New Decadence (2016), Exciting Times (2018), and Ecstasy In The Shadow of Ecstasy (2020). It Was the Moment, her seventh studio album, arrived in 2024.
