Merima Njegomir, born Merima KurtiÅ¡ on November 9, 1953, in Zemun, NR Serbia, was a Serbian folk singer. She began her career singing interpretations of popular Bosnian folk songs such as "Moj dilbere" and "Sejdefu majka buÄaÅ¡e", which gained her popularity across Serbia and former Yugoslavia. Her breakthrough came with the release of her first singles, including "Ja Te Zovem Da Se VratiÅ¡ / Volela Sam Tebe Dragi" in 1978 and "Samo Jedna ReÄ / Zagrli Me Na Rastanku" in 1979. Njegomir's career spanned over four decades, during which she released 24 albums. Notable songs include "Ivanova korita", which was covered by numerous artists and released in various renditions. Her music style included influences from jazz, classical, pop, and Romani music. Njegomir died of pancreatic cancer on November 20, 2021.
