Miguel Ãngel Barcasnegras DÃaz, known as Meñique, was born on December 30, 1933, in Panama City, Panama. He began his music career at age fifteen when he joined La Sonora Panameña de Guillermo Cantillo as a backup singer. His breakthrough came in 1968 when Kako Bastar recruited him for his Combo Continental. In 1972, he released his first solo album, Meñique. He continued to release albums such as Long Live The King (1973), Soy Hijo De Chango (1974), and Con Salsa y Sabor (1977). Meñique's notable collaborations included working with Willie Rosario, Charlie Palmieri, and Tito Puente. He also contributed to albums by other prominent artists such as Héctor Lavoe and Celia Cruz. He passed away on November 28, 2021, in Kissimmee, Florida.
