Pablo Villanueva Branda, born on September 17, 1936, in Lima, Peru, is a Peruvian singer and composer known professionally as Melcochita. He started his musical journey with the group Son de Aruba at six years old. In the 1960s, Melcochita collaborated with Los York's on their third LP 69 (1969) and Traffic Soundâs first album Virgin (1969). He released a single "La cosecha de mujeres nunca se acaba" (1970). His notable collaborations include performances with Johnny Pacheco, Willie Colón, Tito Puente, and Celia Cruz. Melcochita composed "Pegaso" (1986), which gained popularity in Colombia and was later covered by Grupo Niche in 2023.
