Memo Acevedo, born Guillermo Memo Acevedo in Santa Fe de Bogotá, Colombia, is a drummer known for his work in Latin/Brazilian jazz. He began his career drumming for the rock band The Flippers and later moved to Toronto, Canada. In Toronto, he led the Latin Jazz/Salsa band Banda Brava from 1977 to 1996 and founded the first Cuban-Brazilian Jazz Ensemble at Humber College. His album Building Bridges (1994) notably featured guest performances by Tito Puente, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, and Dave Valentin. Acevedo has also collaborated with numerous artists including Bruce Cockburn, Irakere, and Frankie Valli. He moved to New York City in 1996, where he taught at New York University and Drummers Collective.
