Biography

Melitta Berg, born Melitta Killenberger on March 21, 1939, in Singen/Hohentwiel, Germany, is a schlager singer. She grew up near Lake Constance and began performing with the local men's choir as a child. In 1956, she participated in the Schlager and Chansons talent contest organised by Südwestfunk, which led to her first record deal. Her initial recordings included "Die Glocken von Cornwall" and "Ich muß dich wiederseh’n", but it was her third single, "Ob er mich noch liebt… / Dario", that brought her into the charts. In 1959, she achieved her breakthrough with "Nur du, du, du allein", a German cover of The Teddy Bears' hit "To Know Him Is to Love Him". This song became her most successful release. Despite these early successes, Berg's career waned in the 1960s. She released several more singles, including "Eine Rose aus Santa Monica", but none matched the impact of her earlier hits. She retired from music and pursued a career in elderly care.
