Biography

Very popular in Sweden and recognized internationally, the hard rock band Treat was formed in 1981 around singer Robert Ernlund and guitarist Anders "Gary" Wikström. Two years later, after sending out a demo, they signed with Mercury Records to record their debut album Scratch and Bite (1985), under the name Treat. Local success was consolidated by a tour and a second album, The Pleasure Principle (1986), which took advantage of the popularity of rival band Europe and its hit "The Final Countdown " to attract a wider audience in Europe and then the USA. In 1987, Treat's single "World of Promises" was played over and over again on MTV, before a landmark appearance at the UK's Monsters of Rock festival the following year. Despite frequent changes of musicians, the band persevered and signed with Vertigo for the recording of the album Organized Crime (1989), followed by a tour of Japan and the departure of singer Robert Ernlund, replaced by Mats Levén of Candlemass, for the time of one album, Treat (1992). After splitting up in 1993, Treat re-emerged with the success of the Weapons of Choice compilation (2005), and reformed to play at the Sweden Rock Festival in 2006. The band then racked up a string of album releases between world tours, with Coup de Grace (2010), Ghost of Graceland (2016), Tunguska (2018), The Endgame (2022) and The Wild Card (2025).
