Biography
The band Mekado was founded in Germany in 1994 and consists of Melanie Bender, Kati Karney and Dorkas Kiefer. The three singers compete for Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin in the same year. There they present the song "Wir geben 'ne Party", which reaches 3rd place in the competition. The group combines pop music with typical elements of the 90s Eurovision sound. Despite the successful performance, "Wir geben 'ne Party" remains Mekado's only major commercial success. The song reached number 37 in the German singles charts. No further albums or singles are released. After the Eurovision Song Contest, the band breaks up. The three members devote themselves to their own musical and acting projects. There are no awards from the jury.
