Jan Rot, born on December 25, 1957 in Makassar, Indonesia, was a Dutch singer-songwriter. He began his musical journey in 1976 as a keyboardist for the blues group Hollandscheveld and later as the singer-songwriter for Streetbeats and Ratata. In 1982, Jan Rot released his debut solo album Single, which included notable tracks like "Counting Sheep" and "Bobby, Roger & Eileen". Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, he continued to release albums such as Rot & Roll (1984), Hoop & Liefde (1990), and Een Zee Van Tranen (1992). In 1990, Jan Rot shifted his songwriting from English to Dutch, leading to collaborations with artists like Jacques Herb and Anneke Grönloh. His later works include albums like Hallelujah (2008) and Nummerrr 1 (2013). Jan Rot passed away on April 22, 2022.
