Biography
Sidney Eugene Kelton, known professionally as Mean Gene Kelton, was born on April 10, 1953, in Booneville, Mississippi. He started playing guitar at age ten and formed his first band, The Moven Shadows. After a motorcycle accident and a hiatus from music, Kelton returned to the scene in 1983. In 1992, he formed The Die Hards, with whom he performed until his death. Kelton released his debut album Most Requested in December 1999, followed by Mean Guitar in 2003 and a tribute to Elvis Presley titled Going Back To Memphis: A Biker Band Tribute To Elvis in 2007. Notable songs include "My Baby Don't Wear No Panties" and "The Texas City Dyke". Kelton was killed on December 28, 2010, in a car accident.
