Biography

Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, an American heavy metal band from Birmingham, Alabama, was formed in 2004 by vocalist Dallas Taylor following his departure from Underoath. The group's name is inspired by the legend of the criminal gang of Ma Barker and her sons. They released their self-titled debut album, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster (2005). The band signed to Ferret Music in 2006 and released the EP The Day Hell Broke Loose at Sicard Hollow (2007), followed by their second album II (2007). The band toured extensively in support of II, including the "Dirty South Tour" with Underoath and Norma Jean. Their third album, III (2009), debuted at number 71 on the Billboard 200. Maylene and the Sons of Disaster went on a hiatus in 2016 to allow Taylor time to recover from an accident, and reunited in 2022.
