Biography

May Erlewine, born May 13, 1983, in Big Rapids, Michigan, is an American musician known for her work as a singer and songwriter. Growing up in a musical family, Michael Erlewine was a member of The Prime Movers, a Michigan blues band, and founded the online music guide AllMusic. May Erlewine began her career with the release of Sleepless in 2003, followed by her debut album Heart Song in 2004. She is part of the Earthwork Music collective, an independent label promoting original music from regional artists founded by her former husband, Samuel Seth Bernard. Erlewine has released albums including Love Labor (2009), Golden (2010), and Mother Lion (2017). The song "Shine On" was covered by Rani Arbo and Daisy Mayhem on their 2007 album Big Old Life, and by Sawyer Fredericks during the final round of The Voice in 2015.
