Matthew Carl Ferguson, known professionally as Matt Kennon, was born in Conyers, Georgia. He is a country music singer and songwriter who began playing drums at age seven and later performed cover versions of country and southern rock songs in Atlanta clubs. In the late 2000s, Kennon self-released an album, which he sold at his concerts. This led to a move to Nashville, where he met Travis Tritt's former manager, Gary Falcon, who recommended him to producer Kyle Lehning. Randy Travis recorded "Turn It Around" and released it as a single, leading to Kennon signing a publishing contract. In 2009, Kennon signed with BamaJam Records and released his debut single, "The Call", which debuted at number 55 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. His self-titled debut album, Matt Kennon, was released in 2010.
