Matraca Berg is an American country music singer and songwriter born on February 3, 1964, in Nashville, Tennessee. She achieved her first major success in 1983 with the collaboration âFaking Loveâ, which reached Number 1 on the Billboard country chart. Berg signed with RCA Records in 1990 and released her debut album, Lying to the Moon. The project included the singles âBaby, Walk Onâ and âThe Things You Left Undoneâ, both of which reached number 36 on the country singles chart. She followed these with albums including The Speed of Grace and Sunday Morning to Saturday Night. Berg won the 1997 CMA Song of the Year for âStrawberry Wineâ, recorded by Deana Carter. Her later discography includes The Dreaming Fields in 2011 and Love's Truck Stop in 2012. She was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2008 and received the Poet's Award from the Academy of Country Music in 2018.
