Biography

Mari Sugi (born March 14, 1954 in Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture) is a Japanese singer-songwriter and music producer, one of the leading artists of city pop and pop music, After debuting in 1977 with the band MARI & RED STRIPES, he began his solo career in earnest, earning high acclaim for his sophisticated sense of melody and Beatles-inspired sound. His representative works include the albums "SONG WRITER" (1988), "SYMPHONY #10" (1985), and " MUSIC MAN " (2026), and his songs "Vacation is Always Rain" (1982), "Itoshi no Tera" (1981), and "Koisuru Nagisa" (1985 ). He also provided songs for Yumi Matsutoya and Marie Takeuchi. He is now being reevaluated as an important figure in Japan's city pop culture.
