Mary Flower, born in Delphi, Indiana, is an American musician and music educator known for her skills as a blues and ragtime fingerstyle guitarist and vocalist. She began performing in high school and was inspired to pursue blues music after attending a concert by Yank Rachell in the early 1970s. Flower's career took off when she moved to Denver, where she collaborated with country-folk singer-songwriter Katy Moffatt and founded the band Mother Folkers. She released her debut album Cookin' with Flower in 1982. In 2004, after three decades in Denver, Flower relocated to Portland, Oregon, and signed with Yellow Dog Records. Her notable albums include Blues Jubilee (1994), Ladyfingers (2001), Rosewood & Steel (1996), Bywater Dance (2005), Instrumental Breakdown (2007), and Bridges (2009). She placed third in the National Finger Style Guitar Championship in 2000 and 2003, becoming the only female to achieve this twice.
