Biography

Marsheaux is a Greek synthpop duo formed in Athens in 2003 by vocalists, songwriters, and keyboardists Marianthi Melitsi and Sophie Sarigiannidou. Both members were born in Thessaloniki, Greece, and moved to Athens in 2000. Their name is derived from the first syllable of each member's name. Marsheaux gained national prominence with a debut single, a cover of Gershon Kingsley’s "Popcorn" (2003), which received extensive airplay in Greece and mainland Europe. They released their debut album E-Bay Queen (2004) under Undo Records. The duo also remixed tracks for artists such as Moby, Depeche Mode, and Gwen Stefani. Subsequent releases included Peekaboo (2006), Lumineux Noir (2009), and Inhale (2013). Marsheaux's fifth studio album, A Broken Frame (2015), was a cover album of Depeche Mode’s 1982 LP of the same name, which was also released in an extended version titled An Extended Broken Frame. Their sixth studio album, Ath.Lon, was released in 2016.
