Markku Lepistö, born in December 1963 in Kuortane, Finland, is a Finnish accordionist and composer. He began playing the accordion at five years old and graduated from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. Lepistö's career gained momentum as a member of the Finnish band Värttinä from 1998 to 2008. His solo debut album Silta was released in 2002, followed by Polku in 2006 and Tupasoitto in 2009. Lepistö has collaborated with various artists, including Doina Klezmer and Petri Hakala, releasing notable albums like Sorja Tanz (2001) and "Pelimannien jäljillä" (2001). In 2016, he formed the Markku Lepistö Trio with Milla Viljamaa and Hakala, releasing New Voices. In 2019, he released the album Bellows and Pipes.
