Mark Samuel Soskin is an American jazz pianist, arranger, and educator born on July 12, 1953. Based in New York City, he began his professional career in 1972. Soskin performed as a sideman for Roger Glenn on Reachinâ (1976) and with Pete Escovedo and Sheila E on Solo Two (1976). He released his debut album as a leader, Rhythm Vision, in 1980. A long-term collaborator of Sonny Rollins, Soskin performed on albums such as Donât Stop the Carnival (1978) and Falling in Love with Jazz (1990). His solo discography included Calypso & Jazz Around the Corner (1993), Five Lands: Cinqueterra (1998), Man Behind the Curtain (2009), and Nino Rota, Piano Solo (2012). He also recorded with Herbie Mann and Roseanna Vitro and was a member of the group Vital Information. Additionally, Soskin worked as a clinician and music educator.
