Mark Picchiotti is an American DJ and record producer from Chicago, Illinois. He achieved professional recognition for producing the album LaTour (1991) and the track "People Are Still Having Sex" (1991) which reached Number 1 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart and was used by Tonya Harding at the 1992 Winter Olympics. Picchiotti achieved professional recognition as the "Godfather of Gospel House" for his work with the ensemble The Absolute including the tracks "There Will Come a Day" (1995) and "I Believe" (1995). Under the alias Streetlife he collaborated with Dana Divine on the track "Love Breakdown" (1994). He achieved professional recognition for the track "Runnin'" (1994) as Basstoy which reached Number 1 on the UK Club chart, number 3 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart, and number 13 on the UK Singles Chart. In 1997 he established the label Blueplate Records which released projects by artists including Bebe Zahara Benet and Kylie Minogue. He achieved professional recognition for producing the tracks "Butterfly" (2000) and "Give It to Me" (2002) for Minogue. Picchiotti amassed 24 Number 1 singles on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart and remixed tracks for performers including Beyoncé and Michael Jackson. He achieved professional recognition for headlining events including the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.
