Mario Winans was born on August 29, 1974 in New York City. He is an American singer, songwriter and producer and is considered a defining figure of contemporary R&B in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Mario Winans comes from the famous Winans family and is the son of Delores Winans. Mario Winans began working as a producer and musician in the early 1990s. He is part of the producer collective The Hitmen, which is closely associated with Bad Boy Records. In 1997, the debut album Story of My Heart was released to moderate acclaim. The international breakthrough came in 2004 with the second album Hurt No More, which reached number 2 on the US Billboard 200. The single "I Don't Wanna Know" from this album became a worldwide hit and reached number 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 as well as top 10 positions in numerous countries. Stylistically, Mario Winans combines classic R&B with hip-hop and pop elements. In addition to his solo career, he works as a producer and songwriter with international stars such as P. Diddy, Usher, Alicia Keys and Notorious B.I.G..
