Biography

Canadian adult contemporary and pop singer Marie-Ãlaine Thibert was born on April 18, 1982, in the LaSalle district of Montreal, Quebec. She developed an interest in music during high school and college, participating in several music competitions. She gained recognition as the runner-up in the first season of the Quebec singing idol reality show, Star AcadÃ©mie, in 2003. Following Star AcadÃ©mie, Thibert released her self-titled debut album in early 2004, selling 300,000 copies. This success won her two Felix awards for Best-Selling Album and Best Female Singer in 2004, and again for Best Female Singer in 2005. The debut album also received the Juno Award for Best Francophone Album in Canada. In 2007, Thibert released her second album, Comme Ã§a, which sold over 100,000 copies. Over the years, she released several albums, including Un Jour NoÃ«l (2008), Je suis (2011), Cent Mille Chansons (2013), Mes Berceuses (2015), and Un Hymne Ã l'amour (2017). Throughout her career, she has performed with other notable Quebec singers including Ginette Reno, Diane Dufresne, CÃ©line Dion, and Isabelle Boulay. In 2019, she participated in a supergroup recording of RenÃ©e Claude's 1971 single "Tu trouveras la paix." In 2021, she and Star AcadÃ©mie co-participant Wilfred Le Bouthillier won the first season of Chanteurs masquÃ©s, the Quebec adaptation of The Masked Singer. That year, Marie-Ãlaine Thibert presented the live show Nicole - les Chanson d'une Vie, a tribute to the work of singer Nicole Martin.
