Mariana Florès, born in Mendoza, Argentina, on January 1, 1980, is a soprano specializing in Baroque music. She studied voice at the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, graduating in 2003, and continued her training at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland, completing it in 2008. Florès has collaborated with prominent figures such as Manfredo Kraemer, John Eliot Gardiner, and Christina Pluhar. She regularly performs with Cappella Mediterranea and Ensemble Clematis under the direction of Leonardo GarcÃa Alarcón, whom she later married. Florès debuted in Spain at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid in March 2016, performing works by Sebastián Durón. Notable performances include Eliogabalo by Francesco Cavalli at the Palais Garnier in September 2016 and Il Giasone by Cavalli at the Opéra de Genève in January 2017. She has released albums including Monteverdi: Lettera Amorosa (2018) and Sigismondo dâIndia: Lamenti & Sospiri (2021).
