Stefano Grondona, born in 1958 in Genoa, Italy, is a classical guitarist known for his contributions to the international guitar scene. He trained under Sergio Notaro, Oscar Ghiglia, Julian Bream, and Andrés Segovia. Grondona's breakthrough came through winning several competitions, including the Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco (1975) and the Certamen Andrés Segovia (1979). His debut concert in Torino in January 1974 marked the start of his extensive career, performing across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. He has received awards such as the Guitarra de Oro for La Guitarra de Torres in 1999 and the Editor's Choice award from Gramophone for Respuesta. Grondona is also recognized for his scholarly work on guitar history and lutherie, co-authoring La Chitarra di Liuteria-Masterpieces of guitar making (2001).
