Marina Devcich, also known as Maria Dallas, born in 1946 in Morrinsville, New Zealand, is a country music singer who gained prominence in the country music scene. Her breakthrough came at a talent contest in Morrinsville, leading to her first single, "Tumblin' Down" (1966), which reached number 11 on the charts and earned her a Loxene Golden Disc award. In 1967, Dallas moved to Australia after releasing several albums, including Pinocchio (1970) and Town And Country (1972). Her single "Ambush" charted at number 20 in Australia and was produced by Felton Jarvis in Nashville. Returning to New Zealand in 1970, Dallas achieved a Number 1 hit with the song "Pinocchio", which spent six weeks at the top. Her career spanned over 10 albums and 25 singles. "Pinocchio" peaked at number 96 in Australia in March 1971.
