Biography

Marginal Man was an American hardcore punk band from Washington, D.C., formed in 1982 by former Artificial Peace members Steve Polcari, Pete Murray, and Mike Manos, alongside Andre Lee and Kenny Inouye. The band made its debut that November at a basement show with Scream and other D.C. hardcore acts. Known for its innovative use of two guitars, Marginal Man became an important part of the city’s early hardcore scene, with Dischord Records co-founder Jeff Nelson praising their guitar work. The band released the Identity EP (1984), Double Image (1985), and Marginal Man (1988), while touring extensively. They played their final show at the 9:30 Club in March 1988, later reuniting for several performances, including shows in 1991, 1995, and 2011.
