Marco Calliari, born in 1989 in Canada, is a CanadianâItalian singer and guitarist who began his career as a founding member of the Quebec heavyâmetal band Anonymus in 1989 before leaving the group in 2006 to pursue a solo focus on traditional Italian music. After departing Anonymus, Calliari studied classical guitar at the Cégep de SaintâLaurent and spent a formative month in Italy, deepening his appreciation for Italian culture. His first solo album, Mia dolce vita (2006), featured covers of Italian standards such as "Caruso" and "O sole mio" and earned nominations at the ADISQ Gala in 2005 and 2007 for Album of the Year â World Music. He followed with Al Dente Live (2007) and Al Faro Est (2010), the latter containing twelve original Italian compositions and a traditional Tocsane piece, and received another ADISQ nomination in 2011. Calliariâs single "We No Speak Americano" (2010) was remixed by DJ MC Mario, garnering over five hundred thousand YouTube views. He expanded internationally with tours in the United States and Europe, performed at the 2011 New York World Music Festival, and released Bang Bang (2019), reuniting with former Anonymus members and blending metal and world music. In 2021 he adopted the stage name Molotov Mon Amour and began exploring a modern Frenchâlanguage sound, continuing to deliver weekly live salon performances during the COVIDâ19 pandemic.
