Biography
Manuel Prado Alarcón, known professionally as Manuelcha Prado, born on June 16, 1957, in Puquio, Ayacucho, Peru, is a Peruvian guitarist, singer, and composer. He began making music at age 12 and later studied electronics and anthropology in Peru. After his studies, he returned to Puquio to record traditional Chanka-Quechua and Spanish songs, arranging the material for guitar. His debut album, Guitarra IndÃgena, was released in 1981, followed by Testimonio Ayacuchano in 1985 and Guitarra y Canto del Ande in 1987. His musical publications include a collaborative songbook with Raúl GarcÃa Zárate and Javier Echecopar titled Música para Guitarra del Perú, published in 1990, which became widely used in Peruvian music schools. In 1996, he collaborated with Carlos Falconà Aramburú on the album Romance de Guitarrero, para Trilucero, and his later recordings include Saqra in 2000 and Madre Andina in 2007.
