Biography

Makhalba Malecheck, whose real name is Elion-Nkou Serge-Junior, is a Congolese rapper born in Brazzaville. He began his career in 2009 in Casablanca, Morocco, where he discovered rap and honed his style. Returning to the Congo in 2010, he joined the COM1UNI collective, marking his official entry onto the Congolese hip-hop scene. In 2013, he co-founded the Boost Da Music studio with Méli Mélodie, then self-produced his debut album Bible Fétiche in 2014, which won him the Best Hip-Hop Album award at the Beat Street Awards. That same year, his single"Rap A Pomba" propelled him onto the FESPAM stage. Between 2018 and 2022, he established himself as a key figure in Congolese rap, hosting a masterclass on artistic career management. In 2023, he fuses rap and rumba with"Mabé na nga", a hit in Africa and the diaspora. In 2025, as a guest on Légendes Urbaines on France 24, he talks about his career and his social commitments. His style, blending hip-hop and African sounds, tackles profound themes such as resilience and identity.
