Magdeburg, a rock band from Magdeburg, East Germany, was formed in 1975 by Dietrich Kessler following the departure of key members from Klosterbrüder. Their first single, "In meinem Land", was released in 1976. The band became part of the GDR rock scene with songs such as "Kalt und heiÃ" and "Was wird morgen sein". Magdeburg released their self-titled debut album Magdeburg in 1980, followed by Verkehrte Welt in 1981. In 1981, state authorities revoked the bandâs performance license. Dietrich Kessler and Hans-Joachim Kneis were subsequently imprisoned, and the band ceased activities soon afterward. Magdeburg reunited briefly in 1992 before resuming the name Klosterbrüder in 2000.
