Biography
The duo formed by Ruth and Madisen Ward, mother and son in life and originally from the Midwest, have forged their reputation on songs blending elements of folk, blues and gospel, performed in a pared-down guitar-vocal style. After honing his formula in an intimate setting, he independently recorded a debut EP in 2013, entitled We Burned the Cane Fields, which caught the attention of numerous radio stations. In 2014, the two artists played in Nashville, as part of Americana Fest, and made a strong impression on journalists, who then put them in the spotlight until they were finally programmed on the famous Late Night With David Letterman talk show. In 2015, Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear signed a contract with Glassnote Records, who released their debut album Skeleton Key.
