Maddi Oihenart, born in Barcus, Soule, France, in 1956, is a French-Basque singer. She began singing at a young age but officially started her career at 40. In 1987, she participated in the Euskal Kantu Txapelketa (Basque Singing Championship) alongside Battitta Sobiet. Oihenart initially performed a cappella in public spaces and bars in Soule before collaborating with musicians like Mixel Etxekopar and Mixel Arotze on albums such as "Lürralde zilarra" (1998) and "Arbaila" (2002). She later worked with jazz musicians, releasing "Ilhargi min" (2003), "Hari biru" (2007), and "Baldi" (2010). In 2015, she presented "Doi," created with Jérémie Garat. Oihenart has also interpreted works by various Basque writers and collaborated with numerous artists.
