Amaia Zubiria, born on September 11, 1947, in Donostia, Gipuzkoa, Spain, is a Basque singer known for her contributions to Basque and world music. Influenced by her mother, Zubiria showed an early interest in singing and participated in competitions as a young girl. Her career took off with the release of Haizea (1977) and Hontz gaua (1979), both collaborations with the band Haizea. She went on to publish three albums with Txomin Artola, including Folk lore sorta I, II, and III between 1991 and 1993, and three more with Pascal Gaigner, notably "Egun argi hartan" (1985). Her solo work includes albums like Hou Pitxu hou! (1998) and Haatik (2002), which explore themes of love, loss, and nostalgia. Throughout her career, Zubiria has been recognized for her unique voice and cultural contributions to Basque music.
