Biography

Nambalatt Narayanankutty Menon, known as Unni Menon, is an Indian playback singer born on December 2, 1955, in Guruvayur, Kerala, India. He launched his musical career in 1981-82 and became a noted singer in 1984 with the song “Pon Maane Kobam Eno” from the film Oru Kaidhiyin Diary. Menon's collaboration with A.R. Rahman on films such as Roja (1992) and Minsaara Kanavu (1997) established his career. He received the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer in 1996 for “Ooh Lalala” and again in 2002 for “Enge Antha Vennila”, “Ennai Thalattum”, and “Yaarindha Devathai”. His discography includes the devotional albums Paanchajanyam and Saranamanthram (2009). Other recordings include “Oru Chembaneer” (2003) and “Rathipushpam” (2022).
