Lynette Jean Bowtell, known professionally as Lyn Bowtell, and born on April 29, 1977, in Kleinton, Queensland, Australia, is a singer-songwriter. She began performing at local country music clubs and festivals, winning the Queensland Champion of Champions award in 1995. In 1996, she formed Southern Steel, releasing their debut album Headed South. In 2002, Bowtell released her solo debut Heart's in the Country and joined the country pop trio Bella, winning two Golden Guitar Awards for Vocal Group or Duo of the Year. After Bella disbanded in 2006, she took a break to pursue education. Bowtell resumed her career in 2011, supporting Beccy Cole on tour. She released Secret Songs (March 2012), featuring "Sailing" with Janis Ian, and Heart of Sorrow (July 2014), which won Best Alternative Country Album at the Country Music Awards of Australia. Her fifth album, Paper Cuts, was released in September 2025.
