Biography

Lucy Spraggan, born on July 21, 1991 in Canterbury (Kent), under the full name Lucy Honour Ruby Spraggan, came to public attention on the TV show The X Factor in 2012. She had only made her musical debut a year earlier, but had already put together a first, self-produced album, Top Room at the Zoo , which dealt with the theme of disappointment in love. She performed one of the songs from this opus, "Tea And Toast ", on the TV talent show. As she progressed on the show, her album climbed the charts, reaching number 22 in the UK. She left the competition on her own after several stages, declaring herself too ill to continue. In reality, she had to overcome the trauma of a rape that occurred during this period. In 2013, she signs a contract with Columbia, which hosts her second album, the first official one, Join the Club. It spawned two singles, "Lighthouse" (No. 26) and "Last Night (Beer Fear)" (No. 11). Two years later, the pop-folk singer followed up with We Are, which reached no. 17 in the UK charts. With regularity, she delivers an album every two years, keeping herself at the top of the charts: I Hope You Don't Mind Me Writing (No. 12), Today Was a Good Day (No. 12) and Choices (No. 5). After signing a contract with Simon Cowell's label, Syco Music, in 2022, the singer returned in 2023 with the album Balance, produced by Aaron Bicksley, Philip Magee, Frank Colucci and Sam Preston. It is led by the singles "Everything Changes (Beer Fear, Pt. II)" and "Balance". The album reaches number 24 in the UK charts. At the same time, Lucy Spraggan's autobiography, Process, is published. The pop turn of her last two albums is confirmed by her duet with Robbie Williams on a new version of the track "Sober", included with the other singles "Run" and "Unsinkable" on the album Other Sides of the Moon (2025), featuring new recordings from her repertoire.
