Lucifer's Friend was a German rock band formed in 1970 by Peter Hesslein, John Lawton, Dieter Horns, Peter Hecht, and Joachim "Addi" Rietenbach. Their debut album, Lucifer's Friend, released in 1971, showcased a hard rock sound with dark lyrics. The band gained recognition for their diverse musical styles across albums like ....Where the Groupies Killed the Blues (1972) and I'm Just a Rock 'n' Roll Singer (1973), which achieved high popularity in the United States. After several lineup changes, Lucifer's Friend released the album Mean Machine in 1981, embracing heavy metal influences. The band officially disbanded in 1982 but briefly reunited in 1994 as Lucifer's Friend II for the album Sumogrip. A definitive reunion occurred in 2014, leading to new albums like Too Late to Hate (2016) and Black Moon (2019).
