Biography

Once described as "Toronto's best-kept secret", Canadian Lindi Ortega (b. 1980), of Mexican and Irish descent, grew up listening to the rock'n'roll of Elvis Presley and the country music of Hank Williams. Her heart swayed between the two, and unable to choose, she decided to embrace both idioms on her first self-produced albums, The Taste of Forbidden Fruit (2001) and Fall from Grace (2007), separated by an intense stage apprenticeship. Signed by the Cherry Tree label, which released the EP The Drifter (2008), Lindi Ortega eventually fell into the hands of Last Gang Records, which steadily published the following: Little Red Boots (2011), Cigarettes & Truckstops (2012), Tin Star (2013) and Faded Gloryville (2015).
