Los Reyes del Cuarteto formed in early 2002 in JunÃn, Buenos Aires, led by accordionist and director Julio âGrilloâ Núñez, alongside founding vocalist Jorge âCúcutaâ GarcÃa (replaced in 2004 by Gonzalo Moyano), pianist Lucas RodrÃguez, bassist Elian Carrizo, percussionists, and a growing ensemble that eventually reached seven members. Their inaugural independent album Volumen I debuted in August 2005, featuring hits like âApareciste túâ and a cuarteto rendition of Suéterâs âÃl anda diciendo,â signaling a shift toward exclusive cuarteto repertoire. In 2006 and 2007, Volumen II (featuring âOnda Cuarteteraâ) and Volumen III (introducing Mauro Crosetto on âTe veo mañanaâ) solidified their lineup and expanding audience. A prolific period followed with Volumen IV in 2008 (âEl ring tone,â âPiel de azúcarâ), Volumen V in 2009, and their first major live album Los Reyes del Cuarteto â en Vivo 2011, capturing performances in La Pampa and Santa Fe and spotlighting tracks like âUn gusto a mujerâ and âBailando con la Carla.â Transitioning toward digital releases, they issued Volumen VII: El más buscado in 2013 ("Aparentemente," "Jenny"), La octava maravilla live in 2014, Cosas nuestras in 2017 (with Damián Córdoba on âQuién más que túâ), and Evolución in 2018 (introducing Luciano âEl Galgoâ Castro and Guillermo âChicharraâ Bottega with standout tracks âMala nocheâ and âLloviendo estrellasâ). Their 2020 sync of live and studio material appeared in De caravana con Los Reyes, followed by the 2021 digital single âVolverás a mi camaâ (featuring Fabián Show) and the 45-minute mix A bailar que se acaba el mundo. Adopting digital-first strategy, they released singles through 2022 and 2024âincluding âVuela Vuela,â âQue Cachetada,â âNo podrás (en vivo),â âÃngela, Más Que Amiga,â âTodavÃa No Sé,â and âNasaââwhile welcoming new vocalists Axel Montaña in 2022 and background vocalist Tiziano Montaña in 2024.
