Biography

Los Manolos is a Spanish rumba catalana ensemble from Barcelona established in 1989. The group consists of the musicians Xavier Calero, Josep Gómez, Ramón Grau, Andreu Hernàndez, Joan Herrero, Rogeli Herrero, and Toni Pelegrín and included the musicians Carles Lordan, José L. Muñoz, and Rafa Soriano. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style characterized by rumba catalana performed with rock instrumentation. The ensemble achieved professional recognition for the debut studio recording Pasión condal (1991) which reached number 2 in Spain and was the third best-selling Spanish album of the year. Their recording career included the track "All My Loving" (1992) which reached number 3 in Spain and the track "Amigos para siempre" (1992) which reached number 3. The ensemble achieved professional recognition for performing at the closing ceremony of the 1992 Summer Olympics. Their discography included the studio recording Dulce veneno (1992), the studio recording Bailes regionales (1994), and the studio recording Robando gallinas (1998). They achieved professional recognition for the compilation recording Manolos, suban al escenario (2017) and performing concert tours in Europe and the Americas. Lordan died on 24 May 2011 and Soriano died on 28 January 2025.
