Los Dos de Tamaulipas is a Regional Mexican duo formed by twin brothers Rolando and Orlando Zapata, who, despite being born in Houston, Texas, have deeply embraced their Mexican heritage. They began their musical journey in 2013, drawing inspiration from norteño traditions and quickly gaining recognition for their authentic sound. Their debut album, Detrás de la Puerta (2015), introduced their accordion-driven style, setting the stage for subsequent releases like El Amigo de la Lima (2019) and Pa' Llegar a Ser Grande (2020), the latter featuring the notable track "Se Abrió la Puerta" in collaboration with Gerardo DÃaz. In 2020, they released the EP El Humilde, which included a cover of Beto Quintanilla's "Mi Ãltimo Contrabando," showcasing their ability to honor classic corridos while infusing them with contemporary energy. Their 2022 album El Amigo del Pueblo further solidified their position in the genre, followed by Acuérdate de Mi later that year. In 2023, they paid tribute to norteño legends with Recordando A Los Valientes, and in 2025, they released Fácil no Fue, a collaboration with Legado 7 that blends traditional and modern sounds. That year, Los Dos de Tamaulipas strengthened their position within the new wave of norteño and corrido acts signed to Afinarte Music, moving from a steady regional presence into a wider chart and touring phase. The duo released Arriba la CompañÃa, a 10-track album that gathered songs such as âPaâ Mi Nomás,â âSupercargada,â âPura Adrenalina,â âCon Toda La Fe,â and âBendecido,â keeping their sound close to accordion-led norteño, corridos, and direct, street-level storytelling. âSupercargadaâ became a turning point when it gave Los Dos de Tamaulipas their first Number 1 on Billboardâs Regional Mexican Airplay chart in 2025. The groupâs momentum continued into 2026, when they won Best New Artist in the Regional Mexican category at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. That same year, they released âSúper Snake,â a collaboration with Luis R Conriquez, followed by âAyúdame,â before issuing the 14-track album Expansión in April 2026. The record included âEl Chavalón,â âGastando Verdes,â âLa Sierrona,â and âUn Corridazo,â with the latter promoted as a focus track and the albumâs title reflecting the duoâs move toward a broader sound without leaving their Tamaulipas identity behind.
