Loma Prieta is an American hardcore punk band from San Francisco, California formed in 2005. Named after the 1989 earthquake, they initially released material on their own label, Discos Huelga. Their debut EP was Our LP Is Your EP (2006). Loma Prieta's music blends screamo and powerviolence styles with dark themes. In 2008, they released their first full-length album, Last City. Subsequent albums include Dark Mountain (2009), Life/Less (2010), and I.V. (2012). The latter received positive reviews from outlets like AbsolutePunk. In support of I.V., Loma Prieta toured extensively, including dates in New Zealand, Australia, and North America. Their fifth studio album, Self Portrait (2015), marked a shift towards more melodic content, and was supported by the single "Love". The band later released the studio album Last (2023).
