Biography

Multi-talented Chinese-American actress, singer and model Liu Yifei was born An Feng on August 25, 1987, in Wuhan, Hubei, China and immigrated to the US in 1997. After returning to Japan in 2002 and graduating from the Beijing Film Academy, Yifei was signed to Sony Music Entertainment Japan in 2005 and released her first single, "Mayonaka no Door", the following July. Also known her Crystal Liu, a debut Chinese-language self-titled album and a Japanese album both arrived in 2006. The Japanese single "Mayonaka no Doa" was featured in the ending theme for the US-inspired Japanese anime series Powerpuff Girls Z. Liu has not released any albums since 2006, but has channeled her singing voice into film, including 2017's romantic fantasy Once Upon A Time. After getting her start in television, Liu transitioned to the big screen and has acted in several Hollywood movies, including 2014's Outcast with Nicolas Cage and Hayden Christensen, and 2008's The Forbidden Kingdom with Jackie Chan and Jet Li. Yifei was applauded for her role in the live-action adaptation of Disney's 1998 animated film Mulan, released in 2020. She courted controversy in 2019 after resharing a pro-police comment on Chinese social media platform Weibo during Hong Kong's pro-democracy protests.
