Born Wu Xian on 17 April 1982 in Jiaxing, Zhejiang, Ding Dang, also known professionally by her English stage name Della Wu, is a Chinese Mandopop who has built her career in Taiwan. After setting her sights on singing from an early age, she looked to her favourite cartoon character Doraemon for inspiration for her Ding Dang moniker and cut her teeth as a cabaret singer before taking on a singing gig in a bar in Hangzhou's World Trade Center. She secured a deal with Taiwan's Rock Records in 2003 but multiple obstacles, including the 2002â2004 SARS outbreak, delayed the release of her debut by four years. In July 2007, she released her first two singles, "Run Away from Home" (é¢å®¶åºèµ°) and "Can or Not" (å¯ä»¥ä¸å¯ä»¥), with the follow-up Decisively Loved (æç±ä¸ç) arriving in 2008. She has since put out records consistently, from 2011's Soulmate and 2014's Dare to Love to 2019's Die Lovin' and 2021's Sing Together Again.
