Biography

Listener, an American spoken word rock band from Fayetteville, Arkansas, was formed in 2002. The group originated as a solo hip-hop project by Dan Smith, who used the moniker "Listener." Smith released his first album, Whispermoon, on Mush Records in 2003. In 2005, Listener transitioned into a full-fledged rock band and embarked on their first tour, the "Tour of Homes," which involved performing in homes across the United States and Europe. The band's lineup evolved over time, with notable members including Jon Terrey on guitar and Kris Rochelle on drums. Listener released several albums, including Ozark Empire (2005), Return to Struggleville (2007), Wooden Heart (2010), Time Is a Machine (2013), and the concept album Being Empty: Being Filled (2018). The band collaborated with various artists, notably contributing to The Chariot's song "David de la Hoz" on their album Long Live.
