Lisa Hilton, born in San Luis Obispo, California, is an American jazz pianist who began playing piano at around six years old. Inspired by her great-uncle, Dutch pianist Willem Bloemendaal, Hilton initially focused on classical music but later became interested in jazz and blues. Her compositions blended jazz, blues, minimalism, classical, and avant-garde music, drawing inspiration from artists like Thelonious Monk and Duke Ellington. After studying art and design in college, she returned to music under composer Charles Bernstein at UCLA. Her debut album, Seduction, was released in 1997. Since then, Hilton has produced about one album per year, collaborating with notable musicians such as Antonio Sánchez, Larry Grenadier, Christian McBride, and Sean Jones. She has also worked with renowned engineers like Al Schmitt and Doug Sax.
