Biography
Linda Waterfall, born in 1949 in Wilmette, Illinois, was an American folk musician and singer-songwriter. She began studying piano at age eight and learned guitar in high school, but her parents discouraged her from a musical career. After graduating from Stanford University with a degree in visual art in 1971, Waterfall moved to Seattle in 1975 and released her debut album, Mary's Garden, two years later on her own label Trout. Throughout her career, she released 13 albums, including collaborations such as Everything Looks Different with Scott Nygaard in 1983. Waterfall was named Seattle's Top Songwriter by the Seattle Times and Weekly, and taught composition at Cornish College of the Arts from 2004 to 2012. Her final album, Hometown Girl, was released in 2015. Linda Waterfall died on January 8, 2019, after a two-year battle with cancer.
