Carl Leroy Pullins, born on November 12, 1940, in Berea, Kentucky, was an American country singer and guitarist. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, he played with a group called The Le Sabers, which included guitarist J.P. Pennington. Pullins' breakthrough came in 1966 when he signed with Kapp Records and released his debut single "I'm A Nut". This novelty record, written by Pullins himself, peaked on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts that year. Pullins eventually left the music industry and returned to Berea, Kentucky, where he worked as a firefighter until his death from a heart attack on May 5, 1984, at the age of 44. In 2019, The New York Times Magazine listed Pullins among artists whose material was reportedly destroyed in the 2008 Universal fire.
