Biography

Lena Chamamyan, born on June 27, 1980, in Damascus, Syria, is a singer-songwriter recognized for her soprano voice and unique blend of jazz, Arabic folk music, and Western classical music. She began singing at a young age and studied basic music theory from nine years old. Her breakthrough came with participation in a singing competition at the French Cultural Institute in Damascus, leading to studies at the High Institute of Music. Chamamyan released her first two albums, Hal Asmar Ellon (2006) and Shamat (2007), featuring remixed traditional Levantine songs. In 2010, Arabian Business Magazine ranked Chamamyan as one of the 500 most influential figures in the Arab world. Following the Syrian Civil War, she relocated to Paris in 2011. Subsequent albums include Ghazl El Banat (2013) and LAWNAN (Two Colors) (2016). Chamamyan has performed extensively across Europe and the Middle East.
